Almost every pump manufacturer uses the Franklin Electric pump control box for their submersible pump control. It contains the capacitor and the relay necessary to start and protect your water well submersible pump.

When you purchase a Flint & Walling submersible pump form Dean Bennett Supply at 800-621-4291, you get a pump control box as part of the pump price, No extra cost to you. 3 wire with control box pump systems are most popular due to the fact that the controls are above the well where they can be serviced. In 2 wire systems, the controls are built into the bottom of the motor. If you have a control problem, you must pull your pump out of the well to service the controls built into the motor. We always recommend the use of a 3 wire submersible pump with a separate control box.

WIRING A SUBMERSIBLE PUMP CONTROL BOX

Coming from your house power source are 2 hot wires, a ground, and a neutral which acts as a ground to make both hot wires hot at the same time. The hot wires are known as L1 and L2. L1 and L2 will come into the control box and connect to the L1 and L2 connectors. Ground and neutral will go to ground. From the control box, you will connect the wires going to your submersible pump. Black will connect to B, Yellow to Y, and Red to R which is your start winding. The Green ground wire will connect to the ground screw in the box.
